Audit log

Every state-changing event for Movement Labs: moderation decisions on community submissions, plus corrections and updates from the news pipeline. URL-based decisions are designed to carry three independent witnesses — the original source, an Internet Archive snapshot, and a Solana memo signed by our publicly-disclosed publisher key. Archive coverage is still being backfilled, so each decision below reports its own snapshot status rather than assuming one exists.

Internal documents reviewed by CoinDesk show that on November 25, 2024, Web3Port signed an agreement with Rentech, which represented itself as acting on behalf of Movement. On November 27, 2024, Rentech then proposed a separate market-making deal to the Movement Foundation. On December 8, 2024, the Movement Foundation signed a revised agreement with Web3Port through Rentech. Rentech appeared on both sides of the arrangement — simultaneously as a Web3Port subsidiary and as an agent of the Movement Foundation — raising concerns about conflicts of interest and self-dealing. The domain web3portrentech.io was reportedly registered the same day the original contract was signed. Movement Foundation general counsel YK Pek initially described the deal as 'possibly the worst agreement I have ever seen,' flagging that it would hand control of MOVE's circulating supply to a single unknown entity. Despite Pek's objections, a revised version of the agreement was signed. The contract included a profit-sharing clause under which Rentech and Web3Port would receive a 50-50 split of proceeds if MOVE's fully diluted valuation reached $5 billion before tokens were liquidated. Crypto researcher Zaki Manian, quoted by CoinDesk, stated the structure created 'incentives basically to manipulate the price…and then dump on retail for shared profit.' The investigation concluded these were alleged, not adjudicated, findings. Movement co-founder Cooper Scanlon told employees via Slack that Movement was 'a victim in this situation.'","heading":"The Rentech / Web3Port Market-Making Arrangement","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Inside Movement's Token-Dump Scandal: Secret Contracts, Shadow Advisers and Hidden Middlemen — CoinDesk","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2025/04/30/inside-movement-s-token-dump-scandal-secret-contracts-shadow-advisors-and-hidden-middlemen"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Behind the Collapse of Movement Tokens: Secret Contracts and Double-Sided Market Making — AiCoin","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.aicoin.com/en/article/457530"},{"credibility":2,"name":"All the Wrong Moves — Rekt News","type":"news_article","url":"https://rekt.news/all-the-wrong-moves"}]},{"content":"On December 9, 2024, the MOVE token debuted on major centralized exchanges. One day after the listing, 66 million MOVE tokens — approximately 5% of total supply — were sold into the market via the Rentech/Web3Port arrangement, generating approximately $38 million in proceeds. The sell-off was executed with limited buy-side support, causing a sharp decline in the token's price. Binance subsequently banned the market-making account involved, citing 'misconduct,' and froze the proceeds from the token sales. The MOVE token's price fell precipitously following the event; by the time Movement Labs filed for bankruptcy in July 2026, the token was trading near $0.0108, down more than 94% from its peak.","heading":"The Token Dump: December 2024","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Inside Movement's Token-Dump Scandal — CoinDesk","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2025/04/30/inside-movement-s-token-dump-scandal-secret-contracts-shadow-advisors-and-hidden-middlemen"},{"credibility":2,"name":"MOVE Token Buyback: A Strategic Response to Market Manipulation — OKX Europe","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.okx.com/en-eu/learn/move-token-buyback-market-manipulation"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Movement Labs Files for Bankruptcy — MOVE Token Crashes 94% — Bitcoin Foundation","type":"news_article","url":"https://bitcoinfoundation.org/news/crypto-companies-news/movement-bankcuprcy/"}]},{"content":"CoinDesk's investigation found that co-founder Rushi Manche forwarded the initial Rentech contract to the Movement Foundation via Telegram, prompting internal discussion of the arrangement. Manche has not publicly admitted to wrongdoing, and the investigation's findings regarding his precise role remain allegations rather than adjudicated findings. Separately, Sam Thapaliya — founder of crypto payment protocol Zebec and a business partner of Rentech owner Galen Law-Kun — reportedly acted as an informal adviser to Movement without holding an official position. Internal communications cited by CoinDesk indicate that Thapaliya was copied on emails regarding the market-making arrangement and that employees believed last-minute changes to decisions were 'probably coming from Sam.' Rentech owner Galen Law-Kun, for his part, alleged that Movement Foundation general counsel YK Pek had helped structure the Rentech arrangement, a claim Pek disputes. On approximately May 7–9, 2025, Movement Labs announced it had terminated Manche and rebranded its operating arm as Move Industries, appointing Torab Torabi as CEO and Will Gaines as President and Chief Marketing Officer. In a case styled Rushikesh Manche v. MVMT Labs, Inc. (C.A. No. 2025-1407-CDW), Magistrate Wright held that Manche was entitled to advancement of legal fees in connection with the DOJ investigation. The court rejected Movement Labs' contention that Manche was not entitled to advancement on the grounds that he 'initiated' the proceeding by having his counsel contact the DOJ. How verification works. The “Row integrity” check above is computed in your browser — your machine recomputes the SHA-256 of the canonical bytes and compares against the stored hash. No avoid.net server can fake that check. The “full verify” link goes one level deeper: your browser fetches the on-chain transaction from a Solana RPC node and confirms the same hash is in the memo. If you don’t want to trust either avoid.net or the public RPC, run the CLI verifier on your own machine — python -m src.verify_decision <event_id>.
