Audit log

Every state-changing event for Liquid Marketplace: moderation decisions on community submissions, plus corrections and updates from the news pipeline. URL-based decisions are designed to carry three independent witnesses — the original source, an Internet Archive snapshot, and a Solana memo signed by our publicly-disclosed publisher key. Archive coverage is still being backfilled, so each decision below reports its own snapshot status rather than assuming one exists.

The platform issued asset-specific ERC-20 tokens, designated LMP Tokens, on the Ethereum blockchain. Each token purported to represent proportional legal ownership in the underlying collectible. Items were described by the platform as having been authenticated, appraised, and insured. Trading was offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with both cryptocurrency and fiat payment accepted. The company raised approximately CAD $10 million (roughly USD $8 million) from investors through share and promissory note sales, disclosed in its own public materials. Liquid Marketplace Inc., Liquid Marketplace Corp., Ryan Bahadori, Amin Nikdel, and Dennis Domazet (File No. 2024-10). The OSC characterized the conduct as a 'multi-layered fraud' and alleged seven breaches of Ontario securities law. Core allegations include: (1) misappropriation of approximately $3 million from over $10 million raised from investors, routed through undisclosed shell corporations and interest-free personal loans that were never repaid; (2) the sale of approximately $2.7 million in LMP Tokens constituting unregistered securities; (3) false and misleading representations that LMP Tokens conferred legal ownership in underlying collectibles; (4) false claims that collectibles had been authenticated, appraised, and insured; and (5) providing false statements to OSC investigators. Bahadori is specifically alleged to have used company credit cards and funds to pay for nearly $500,000 in personal expenses including high-end fashion, jewelry and watches, and luxury spa services. Each respondent faces potential fines of up to $1 million per violation plus disgorgement of any gains. An amended application was filed February 19, 2025. Merits hearings have been scheduled across 2025 and into June 2026; as of the date of this investigation, no final adjudication has been publicly issued.","heading":"Regulatory Enforcement Action (OSC, 2024)","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":1,"name":"Capital Markets Tribunal — OSC v. Up to 51% of the card's ownership was made available for fractionalization, though approximately 5.4% was ultimately sold, raising roughly $270,000 from fractional holders. The platform subsequently went offline, leaving investors unable to access or trade their tokens. Paul later stated publicly that he repurchased the fractionalized portion from holders in May 2024 at the original pricing terms and financed efforts to restore platform access to allow withdrawals. In 2024, Paul sold the Pikachu Illustrator card at auction for approximately $16.5 million, setting a Guinness World Record for the most expensive trading card sale in history. Critics, including Gabriel Shapiro of Delphi Labs, described the episode as a 'Pikachu NFT fractionalization fiasco' and argued the arrangement created fundamental confusion about ownership rights. How verification works. The “Row integrity” check above is computed in your browser — your machine recomputes the SHA-256 of the canonical bytes and compares against the stored hash. No avoid.net server can fake that check. The “full verify” link goes one level deeper: your browser fetches the on-chain transaction from a Solana RPC node and confirms the same hash is in the memo. If you don’t want to trust either avoid.net or the public RPC, run the CLI verifier on your own machine — python -m src.verify_decision <event_id>.
