Audit log

Every state-changing event for Fogo: moderation decisions on community submissions, plus corrections and updates from the news pipeline. URL-based decisions are designed to carry three independent witnesses — the original source, an Internet Archive snapshot, and a Solana memo signed by our publicly-disclosed publisher key. Archive coverage is still being backfilled, so each decision below reports its own snapshot status rather than assuming one exists.

According to reporting by CryptoTimes and Bloomingbit, the stolen tokens represented approximately 4% of FOGO's 10 billion token initial supply and more than 10% of the circulating supply at the time of the incident. The Foundation estimated losses at approximately $3–$3.88 million based on market price at disclosure. The token fell approximately 18–20% in the hours following the announcement. The Fogo Foundation stated that it notified major cryptocurrency exchanges — including Binance, OKX, KuCoin, and Gate.io — requesting cooperation to block deposits and withdrawals linked to the stolen funds. The Foundation also stated it engaged law enforcement and blockchain forensics firms. The Foundation did not disclose the specific compromise method, the affected wallet address, the attacker's identity, or whether a recovery or compensation plan was in place. The Fogo blockchain itself was reported to be unaffected, continuing to produce blocks normally throughout the incident. As of the date of this report, no arrest has been made and no funds have been confirmed recovered. The incident remains under active investigation.","heading":"Security Incident — Foundation Wallet Breach (August 2026)","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo Foundation Hacked: 400M Tokens Worth $3.88M Stolen as FOGO Drops 18%","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptotimes.io/2026/08/29/fogo-foundation-hacked-400m-tokens-stolen-as-fogo-drops-18/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo Foundation Breach Sends 400 Million FOGO Tokens to Attacker, Price Drops 20%","type":"news_article","url":"https://en.bloomingbit.io/feed/news/119341"},{"credibility":2,"name":"FOGO Crypto Hack News: 4% of Total Token Supply Moved in Wallet Breach","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/fogo-crypto-hack-news-400-million-tokens-wallet-breach"}]},{"content":"Fogo is a Layer 1 blockchain that uses a custom implementation of the Firedancer Solana client to achieve low-latency block production, targeting 40-millisecond block times and approximately 1.3-second finality. It maintains full compatibility with the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM), enabling Solana-based developers to deploy applications on Fogo without significant migration effort. The project was co-founded by Robert Sagurton, formerly Global Head of Digital Asset Sales at Jump Crypto with prior roles at JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, State Street, and R3; and Douglas Colkitt, a former high-frequency trader at Citadel and founder of Ambient Finance. Technical development is led by Douro Labs, the same team responsible for the Pyth Network oracle. Notable angel investors and backers include Cobie (Jordan Fish), Tarun Chitra, Robert Leshner, Kain Warwick, Larry Cermak, GSR Markets, CMS Holdings, Selini Capital, and Distributed Global. The team's backgrounds in traditional high-frequency trading and institutional finance are cited as a differentiating factor for the project's stated focus on capital markets use cases.","heading":"Project Overview and Team","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo: The Fastest SVM Layer 1? — CoinGecko","type":"research","url":"https://www.coingecko.com/learn/what-is-fogo"},{"credibility":1,"name":"Fogo raises $8 million at $100 million token valuation via Cobie's Echo — The Block","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/336886/fogo-chain-funding-token-valuation-cobie-echo"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo L1: The Firedancer-Powered Chain That Wants to Be Solana for Wall Street — BlockEden","type":"news_article","url":"https://blockeden.xyz/blog/2026/01/13/fogo-l1-firedancer-institutional-solana-rwa/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Robert Sagurton — LinkedIn","type":"other","url":"https://ag.linkedin.com/in/robert-sagurton"}]},{"content":"Fogo raised capital across three distinct rounds totaling approximately $20.5 million. A seed round in December 2024 raised $5.5 million at a $100 million fully diluted valuation, led by Distributed Global with participation from CMS Holdings. In January 2025, Fogo raised $8 million via the Echo crowdfunding platform, completing the round in under two hours from approximately 3,000 angel investors. Echo was created by Cobie (Jordan Fish), a prominent crypto personality who also became an investor. The Fogo Foundation subsequently raised $7 million in a strategic token sale conducted on Binance ahead of the mainnet launch. The total raise of approximately $20.5 million reflects meaningful institutional and community backing, though the speed and scale of the Echo round also generated speculative retail interest, which carries inherent risk.","heading":"Funding History","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo (FOGO) IEO Funding Rounds, Token Sale Review and Tokenomics Analysis — CryptoRank","type":"research","url":"https://cryptorank.io/ico/fogo"},{"credibility":1,"name":"Fogo raises $8 million at $100 million token valuation via Cobie's Echo — The Block","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/336886/fogo-chain-funding-token-valuation-cobie-echo"},{"credibility":1,"name":"Fogo launches high-speed blockchain mainnet after $7 million Binance token sale — The Block","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/385663/fogo-launches-high-speed-blockchain-mainnet-7-million-binance-token-sale"}]},{"content":"FOGO has a total initial supply of 10 billion tokens. Token allocation is heavily weighted toward insiders: Core Contributors hold 34%, the Foundation holds 30.38%, Institutional Investors hold 8.77%, and Advisors hold 7%. Community-facing allocations — Echo Raises (9.25%), Airdrop and Launch (6.60%), and Metaplex Sale (2%) — account for a comparatively smaller share. Approximately 2% of supply has been burned. Fogo uses cliff vesting for most insider allocations, meaning tokens are released in bulk after a waiting period rather than linearly, which can create concentrated sell pressure events. Core Contributors face a 12-month cliff followed by four-year linear vesting. Institutional investors face full lock-up at mainnet launch with linear vesting over four years. An Advisor unlock is scheduled for September 26, 2026. As of August 2026, circulating supply stood at approximately 3.88 billion tokens, or roughly 38.8% of total supply, with a market capitalization of approximately $35 million pre-breach. The high insider allocation percentage and cliff vesting structure represent a meaningful supply overhang risk for retail holders. The Foundation's 30.38% allocation is particularly notable given that the Foundation was the entity whose wallet was compromised in the August 2026 security incident.","heading":"Tokenomics and Supply Concentration Risk","severity":"high","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo (FOGO) Tokenomics and Vesting Schedule — Tokenomist","type":"research","url":"https://tokenomist.ai/fogo/tokenomics"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo Token Unlock Schedule — CoinGlass","type":"research","url":"https://www.coinglass.com/currencies/FOGO/vesting"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo (FOGO) IEO Funding Rounds, Token Sale Review and Tokenomics Analysis — CryptoRank","type":"research","url":"https://cryptorank.io/ico/fogo"}]},{"content":"Fogo's design makes explicit trade-offs between performance and decentralization. The network uses a curated (permissioned) validator set rather than permissionless participation, which concentrates control over block production among a vetted group. Validators are co-located in geographically clustered data centers to minimize network latency, which achieves the low block times the project markets but diverges from the distributed validator model used by most Layer 1 blockchains. The project uses a single canonical client (Firedancer) rather than multiple competing client implementations, which eliminates performance inconsistency but increases the risk of a single client bug affecting the entire network. Fogo has described a zone-rotation mechanism intended to provide some geographic diversity over time. These architectural decisions are acknowledged tradeoffs rather than hidden risks; however, users and institutions operating on Fogo should be aware that the network's censorship-resistance guarantees and validator diversity are materially different from more decentralized networks. No regulatory action or formal accusation of misconduct related to these design choices has been identified.","heading":"Decentralization and Architecture Trade-offs","severity":"medium","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo Testnet Officially Launches — Messari","type":"research","url":"https://messari.io/report/fogo-testnet-officially-launches"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Fogo: A High-Performance SVM Layer 1 Blockchain — Medium","type":"other","url":"https://medium.com/@trjoy15/fogo-a-high-performance-svm-layer-1-blockchain-dd7bb8414c4c"},{"credibility":3,"name":"What Is Fogo SVM Layer-1 Blockchain and How Does It Work — BingX","type":"other","url":"https://bingx.com/en/learn/article/what-is-fogo-svm-layer-1-blockchain-how-does-it-work"}]},{"content":"Fogo claims 40-millisecond block times, approximately 1.3-second finality, and throughput of over 1,200 transactions per second on mainnet. During testnet, Fogo reportedly topped Chainspect's performance leaderboard for fastest chains by TPS. The team has stated the network is up to 18 times faster than Solana and Sui based on testnet benchmarks. Industry observers have noted these claims require rigorous independent verification under sustained real-world mainnet conditions, and testnet benchmarks may not reflect long-term production performance. The project's mainnet launched in January 2026 and, as of the report date, the network had been live for approximately seven months, with limited independent third-party audits of performance claims identified.","heading":"Performance Claims","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fogo Launches Public Mainnet After Binance Token Sale — The Defiant","type":"news_article","url":"https://thedefiant.io/news/blockchains/fogo-launches-public-mainnet-after-binance-token-sale"},{"credibility":1,"name":"Fogo launches high-speed blockchain mainnet after $7 million Binance token sale — The Block","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/385663/fogo-launches-high-speed-blockchain-mainnet-7-million-binance-token-sale"}]},{"content":"Web searches for 'Fogo' surface third-party reports about a separate entity operating as fogoforex.com, which appears on external warning lists and user complaint aggregators as a high-risk or potentially fraudulent foreign exchange trading platform. How verification works. The “Row integrity” check above is computed in your browser — your machine recomputes the SHA-256 of the canonical bytes and compares against the stored hash. No avoid.net server can fake that check. The “full verify” link goes one level deeper: your browser fetches the on-chain transaction from a Solana RPC node and confirms the same hash is in the memo. If you don’t want to trust either avoid.net or the public RPC, run the CLI verifier on your own machine — python -m src.verify_decision <event_id>.
