Audit log

Every state-changing event for Cube Exchange: moderation decisions on community submissions, plus corrections and updates from the news pipeline. URL-based decisions are designed to carry three independent witnesses — the original source, an Internet Archive snapshot, and a Solana memo signed by our publicly-disclosed publisher key. Archive coverage is still being backfilled, so each decision below reports its own snapshot status rather than assuming one exists.

It is structured as a centralized exchange for order matching and user experience, but settlement occurs on-chain and customer assets are held in multi-party computation (MPC) vaults rather than in a conventional exchange-controlled wallet, with key material split among the user, Cube, and a third-party 'Guardian Council' of validators (initial members reported as Solana Foundation, Everstake, Kiln, Juicy Stake, and Triton One). The company describes this design as preventing it from unilaterally accessing or misappropriating customer funds, and CEO Bartosz Lipiński has framed it as a response to exchange failures such as FTX. Lipiński is a former Solana software engineer who previously worked at JPMorgan and at Citadel; the CTO is reported as Lawrence 'Larry' Wu. Cube raised a $9 million seed round in October 2023 and a $12 million Series A announced February 1, 2024, which valued the company at approximately $100 million, with investors reported to include 6th Man Ventures, GSR Markets, Foundation Capital, and Susquehanna Private Equity Investments. At the time of the DL News report in March 2024, Cube reported roughly $1 million in daily trading volume; these figures are company-reported and not independently audited.","heading":"Business Model, Founders, and Funding","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"DL News: Cube.exchange crypto CEO on plan to protect client funds","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.dlnews.com/articles/markets/cubeexchange-crypto-ceo-on-plan-to-protect-client-funds/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"The Block: Hybrid crypto exchange Cube reaches $100 million valuation in new funding round","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/275490/cube-crypto-exchange-series-a"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Forklog: Hybrid crypto exchange Cube secures $12 million at $100 million valuation","type":"news_article","url":"https://forklog.com/en/hybrid-crypto-exchange-cube-secures-12-million-at-100-million-valuation/"}]},{"content":"Cube's central selling point is non-custodial, MPC-based asset storage intended to reduce the 'founder risk' highlighted by prior exchange collapses. Trade settlement and withdrawals reportedly require explicit on-chain authorization rather than unilateral action by Cube staff, and a council of independent 'guardian' validators is designed to allow users to recover funds if the exchange itself fails or acts improperly. This architecture has been described favorably by crypto trade press (Blockworks, DL News) as structurally similar to decentralized exchange designs layered onto a centralized trading interface. No independent security audit report, penetration test, or third-party verification of the MPC/guardian system was identified in available sources, and no public reserve-attestation or proof-of-reserves report could be located. No hack, breach, or loss-of-funds incident involving Cube Exchange was found in available reporting as of this investigation.","heading":"Custody and Security Architecture","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"DL News: Cube.exchange crypto CEO on plan to protect client funds","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.dlnews.com/articles/markets/cubeexchange-crypto-ceo-on-plan-to-protect-client-funds/"}]},{"content":"No SEC, CFTC, DOJ, or other regulatory enforcement action against Cube Exchange was found in available searches of regulatory and news sources. No FinCEN money-services-business registration or state money-transmitter license specific to Cube Exchange could be located in the sources reviewed; this investigation did not have access to FinCEN's registrant database directly, so licensing status should be independently verified rather than treated as confirmed or ruled out. Third-party trading-bot integration documentation (Hummingbot) lists the United States among jurisdictions where Cube Exchange states it does not operate, grouping it with countries such as Cuba, Iran, and Russia on an unsupported-countries list; this is a secondary source reflecting Cube's own stated restrictions rather than a regulator record, and Cube's current official terms of service were not independently retrieved for this investigation.","heading":"Regulatory Status and Jurisdictional Access","severity":"medium","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Hummingbot documentation: Cube Exchange","type":"other","url":"https://hummingbot.org/exchanges/cube/"}]},{"content":"Cube Exchange's Trustpilot profile shows a small sample (9 reviews as reviewed) with a mixed rating, including several unverified negative reviews. One review dated October 2026 was posted by a user claiming to be a former employee of 'Cube Group,' alleging that CEO Bartosz Lipinski insulted staff, dismissed the team, and left the last two months of salary unpaid, and characterizing this as 'fraud'; this allegation comes from a single anonymous, non-verified reviewer and has not been corroborated by any news outlet, court filing, or labor authority record, so it should be treated as a low-confidence, unverified claim. A separate review alleged the company's social media mocked a racial group, again without corroborating evidence. Other reviews describe unresolved promotional-bonus and airdrop-reward disputes (a $25 promotion and a SpellWallet-linked airdrop campaign) in which the company disputed at least one reviewer's account, saying the bonus had in fact been paid and support had responded. Positive reviews on the same platform describe the app as easy to use, with low fees and reliable payouts for some promotions. Because Trustpilot reviews are not fact-checked by the platform and the review volume is very small, none of these claims meet Tier 1 or Tier 2 sourcing standards, and no independent reporting on Cube's staffing, layoffs, or finances was found to corroborate or refute the allegations.","heading":"Unverified User and Former-Employee Complaints","severity":"medium","sources":[{"credibility":3,"name":"Trustpilot: Cube Exchange reviews","type":"community_report","url":"https://www.trustpilot.com/review/cube.exchange"}]},{"content":"No court filings, SEC/CFTC litigation releases, or major-outlet reporting describing fraud, an exit scam, insolvency, or a security breach at Cube Exchange were found. Available coverage of the company is limited mostly to funding announcements and feature profiles from 2023–2024 (DL News, The Block, Blockworks, Forklog), with no substantial independent investigative or regulatory coverage identified for 2025–2026. This absence of adverse findings should not be read as a clean bill of health: it may reflect limited media attention to a comparatively small platform rather than confirmed good conduct, and users should independently verify current operational status, licensing, and reserves before depositing funds.","heading":"Absence of Known Enforcement Actions or Hack Reports","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"The Block: Hybrid crypto exchange Cube reaches $100 million valuation in new funding round","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/275490/cube-crypto-exchange-series-a"}]}],"sources_used":[{"credibility":2,"name":"DL News: Cube.exchange crypto CEO on plan to protect client funds","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.dlnews.com/articles/markets/cubeexchange-crypto-ceo-on-plan-to-protect-client-funds/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"The Block: Hybrid crypto exchange Cube reaches $100 million valuation in new funding round","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/275490/cube-crypto-exchange-series-a"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Forklog: Hybrid crypto exchange Cube secures $12 million at $100 million valuation","type":"news_article","url":"https://forklog.com/en/hybrid-crypto-exchange-cube-secures-12-million-at-100-million-valuation/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Blockworks: Cube.Exchange squares the circle of decentralization","type":"news_article","url":"https://blockworks.co/news/cube-exchange-crypto-mpc"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Hummingbot documentation: Cube Exchange","type":"other","url":"https://hummingbot.org/exchanges/cube/"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Trustpilot: Cube Exchange reviews","type":"community_report","url":"https://www.trustpilot.com/review/cube.exchange"},{"credibility":3,"name":"CoinMarketCap: Cube Exchange listing","type":"other","url":"https://www.coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/cube-exchange"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Dealroom: Cube Exchange company profile","type":"other","url":"https://app.dealroom.co/companies/cube_exchange_1"}],"summary":"Cube Exchange (branded Cube, also referred to by some reviewers as 'Cube Group') is a crypto trading platform founded in 2023 by former Solana engineer Bartosz Lipiński that pairs off-chain order matching with on-chain, MPC-based settlement, marketed as protection against exchange insolvency risk after FTX. It has raised institutional seed and Series A funding and has not been the subject of any known regulatory enforcement action or reported hack, but independent, verified coverage of the platform is thin, and a small number of unverified user and ex-employee complaints — including an October 2026 allegation of unpaid wages and 'fraud' from an anonymous former employee — have not been corroborated by any news outlet or regulator.","timeline":[{"date":"2023-10","event":"Cube Exchange raises a $9 million seed round.","source":"Dealroom / Forklog coverage of Cube funding history","source_url":"https://forklog.com/en/hybrid-crypto-exchange-cube-secures-12-million-at-100-million-valuation/"},{"date":"2023-12","event":"Cube Exchange launches its trading platform.","source":"DL News","source_url":"https://www.dlnews.com/articles/markets/cubeexchange-crypto-ceo-on-plan-to-protect-client-funds/"},{"date":"2024-02-01","date_evidence":"The Block article byline reads \"February 1, 2024, 7:00AM EST\" and reports Cube announced the round, with later text referring to the announcement as made \"Thursday\" (matching Feb 1, 2024).","event":"Cube announces a $12 million Series A round at a reported $100 million valuation.","source":"The Block","source_url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/275490/cube-crypto-exchange-series-a"},{"date":"2024-03","event":"DL News publishes an in-depth profile of Cube's custody model and Guardian Council, describing roughly $1 million in daily trading volume.","source":"DL News","source_url":"https://www.dlnews.com/articles/markets/cubeexchange-crypto-ceo-on-plan-to-protect-client-funds/"},{"date":"2026-10","event":"A Trustpilot reviewer identifying as a former employee publicly alleges unpaid salaries and 'fraud' by Cube's CEO; the claim is uncorroborated by independent reporting.","source":"Trustpilot user review","source_url":"https://www.trustpilot.com/review/cube.exchange"}]},"v":1}

How verification works. The “Row integrity” check above is computed in your browser — your machine recomputes the SHA-256 of the canonical bytes and compares against the stored hash. No avoid.net server can fake that check. The “full verify” link goes one level deeper: your browser fetches the on-chain transaction from a Solana RPC node and confirms the same hash is in the memo. If you don’t want to trust either avoid.net or the public RPC, run the CLI verifier on your own machine — python -m src.verify_decision <event_id>.
