Audit log

Every state-changing event for Atum Labs: moderation decisions on community submissions, plus corrections and updates from the news pipeline. URL-based decisions are designed to carry three independent witnesses — the original source, an Internet Archive snapshot, and a Solana memo signed by our publicly-disclosed publisher key. Archive coverage is still being backfilled, so each decision below reports its own snapshot status rather than assuming one exists.

Investors named in press coverage include Variant, PayPal Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Road Capital, Mirana Ventures, First Commit, and Credibly Neutral, with Charlie Songhurst named as a strategic adviser. The company is led by founder and CEO Pete Cooling, who previously led Visa's crypto product team for roughly a decade and represented Visa at the Linux Foundation's OpenWallet Foundation, working on standards for digital identity, payment cards, and stablecoins. Some sources report the raise as $14 million rather than $13.5 million; the discrepancy has not been resolved in available reporting.","heading":"Company Background and Launch","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Pulse2: Atum Raises $13.5 Million And Emerges From Stealth With Open Payments Network","type":"news_article","url":"https://pulse2.com/atum-raises-13-5-million-and-emerges-from-stealth-with-open-payments-network/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Crowdfund Insider: Former Visa Crypto Lead Pete Cooling Launches Atum, an Open Payments Network","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.crowdfundinsider.com/2026/09/312552-former-visa-crypto-lead-pete-cooling-launches-atum-an-open-payments-network/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Dealroom: Atum leaves stealth with $14M to build an open payments network","type":"research","url":"https://dealroom.co/news/156166-atum-leaves-stealth-with-14m-to-build-an-open-payments-network/"}]},{"content":"Atum describes itself as an open payments network connecting stablecoins, blockchain settlement, and traditional financial rails. According to company materials and secondary reporting, the company does not build its own blockchain, does not issue a proprietary stablecoin, and does not take custody of customer funds; it handles authorization, routing, quoting, and confirmation of transactions while independent settlement providers execute transfers. The company also says it supports the x402 and HTTP-based machine payment (MPP) standards intended for AI-agent and machine-to-machine payments, with reference implementations published on GitHub. No native token has been announced. These descriptions derive from the company's own announcement and secondary coverage of it rather than independent technical audit, so they should be treated as the company's self-description rather than independently verified fact.","heading":"Product and Business Model","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"KuCoin Blog: What Is Atum? Legal and regulatory news items that surfaced during research (e.g., a U.S. Department of Justice antitrust suit against Visa over debit-network practices, and unrelated stablecoin litigation involving other companies such as Tether and Celsius) concern different parties and are not connected to Atum or Cooling in any identified source. The company describes itself as a neutral coordination layer for stablecoin and agent-initiated payments that does not custody customer funds, issue its own token, or operate its own blockchain. No lawsuits, regulatory actions, hacks, or credible fraud allegations against the company or its founder were found at the time of this investigation; as a newly-launched startup with limited public track record, available information is necessarily limited.","timeline":[{"date":"2026-10-02","date_evidence":"Date: October 2, 2026","event":"Atum emerged from stealth, announcing $13.5 million in funding and its open payments network, founded by Pete Cooling, former Visa crypto product lead.","source":"Pulse2","source_url":"https://pulse2.com/atum-raises-13-5-million-and-emerges-from-stealth-with-open-payments-network/"}]},"v":1}

How verification works. The “Row integrity” check above is computed in your browser — your machine recomputes the SHA-256 of the canonical bytes and compares against the stored hash. No avoid.net server can fake that check. The “full verify” link goes one level deeper: your browser fetches the on-chain transaction from a Solana RPC node and confirms the same hash is in the memo. If you don’t want to trust either avoid.net or the public RPC, run the CLI verifier on your own machine — python -m src.verify_decision <event_id>.
