Verify a decision
Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.
How verification works
- We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (
payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction. - We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
- You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is
AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

The platform allowed users to post short-form content, tip creators with a diamond system, and buy and sell 'creator coins' — personalized tokens whose price was algorithmically determined by a bonding curve based on outstanding supply. BitClout's native token, BTCLT, was required to use the platform and could only be purchased with Bitcoin through a one-way atomic swap mechanism that had no on-platform path to convert back to Bitcoin, effectively trapping user funds on the site. Critics noted this design choice at launch; approximately $184 million in Bitcoin had reportedly entered the platform with no withdrawal mechanism. At launch, BitClout automatically scraped and created tradeable profiles for approximately 15,000 prominent Twitter users — including Elon Musk — without their knowledge or consent, generating immediate controversy. Within days, law firm Anderson Kill sent a cease-and-desist letter to Al-Naji on behalf of Radar Relay product lead Brandon Curtis, alleging violations of California Civil Code Sections 3344 (right of publicity) and 1798 (right to privacy). The platform's pre-mine of approximately 2 million BTCLT tokens for founders and investors was disclosed by 'Diamondhands' at the time, though the identity behind that pseudonym was not. The BTCLT token reached an all-time high of approximately $198.68. The SEC named Al-Naji as primary defendant and listed Buse Desticioğlu Al-Naji (his wife), Joumana Bahouth Al-Naji (his mother), Intangible Holdings LLC, Firestorm Media LLC, Viridian City LLC, and the DeSo Foundation as relief defendants. The SEC alleged that Al-Naji raised more than $257 million through unregistered sales of the BTCLT token while deliberately concealing his identity behind the 'Diamondhands' pseudonym to portray the project as decentralized and leaderless — specifically repeating to investors and the public that BitClout had 'no company behind it... just coins and code.' The commission further alleged that Al-Naji controlled key aspects of the platform, including token creation, pricing, and the master treasury wallet, and that he obtained a favorable legal opinion from a law firm by misrepresenting the project's nature, then used that opinion to attract venture capital. The SEC alleged he diverted more than $7 million of investor proceeds to personal expenditures, including rent on a Beverly Hills mansion and large cash gifts to family members. Al-Naji's representatives countered that the property in question also housed company employees and served business purposes. The parallel DOJ criminal complaint charged Al-Naji with one count of wire fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
