Verify a decision
Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.
How verification works
- We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (
payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction. - We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
- You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is
AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

In the operation, federal agents created several cryptocurrency tokens — including a token called NexFundAI — that were listed on exchanges and presented as legitimate projects. Agents then approached market-making firms, documented how manipulation services were solicited and executed, and recorded evidence of firms openly describing their wash trading methods. The operation culminated in three separate indictments filed between March and September 2025, with charges against ten foreign nationals publicly announced on March 30, 2026. The DOJ's approach was described as proactive rather than reactive: rather than investigating fraud after the fact, investigators created what one analysis characterized as a storefront and let the alleged criminals walk through the door. The same undercover token methodology had been used in an earlier October 2024 action against 18 individuals and entities including CLS Global, ZM Quant, and MyTrade, with UAE-based CLS Global subsequently pleading guilty to manipulating the FBI-created NexFundAI token and paying $428,059 in fines. All three were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud under 18 U.S.C. sections 1343 and 1349. Gora was arrested in Singapore on October 2, 2025, at the request of the United States and was extradited to Oakland, where he made his initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge. Antier Solutions Private Limited is described by prosecutors as a partner firm of Contrarian, operating in India. On September 4, 2025, a federal grand jury in Oakland indicted four individuals across the two firms: Manu Singh (Indian national, age 34, alleged CEO of Contrarian), Kushagra Srivastava (Indian national, alleged CFO of Contrarian), Vasu Sharma (Indian national, age 26, alleged Business Development Associate at Contrarian), and Sabby Singh (alleged Business Development Manager at Antier Solutions Private Limited). All four were charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud under 18 U.S.C. sections 1343 and 1349. According to prosecutors and investigative reporting, Antier solicited clients and outsourced the actual wash trading operations to Contrarian for approximately $3,000 per month plus a percentage of token liquidation proceeds. These coordinated buy-sell loops inflated reported trading volumes and token prices, signaling artificial demand to retail investors and exchanges. The core incentive for token issuers was that exchange listing criteria are often tied to trading volume, and inflated figures attracted attention and capital. Once prices were sufficiently elevated, insiders planned to liquidate their holdings at peak prices, leaving retail investors with devalued tokens. The Antier-Contrarian arrangement illustrates the alleged service model: Antier acted as a sales and client-acquisition front, while Contrarian handled the technical execution of wash trading for a monthly retainer of approximately $3,000 plus a percentage of liquidation proceeds. The Gotbit case, which overlaps operationally with these three firms, provides a documented example of the broader scheme: blockchain analysis showed that 1,209 of 1,221 (99%) of Gotbit-linked transactions were circular, and undercover FBI recordings captured Gotbit executives openly discussing their methods. Research cited in connection with the case suggests wash trading is pervasive in lower-cap token markets, with one estimate noting approximately 25% of Polymarket historical volume showed wash trading characteristics.","heading":"Wash Trading Methods and Alleged Market Impact","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"TRM Labs: Ten Fraudsters from Four Financial Services Firms Charged","type":"research","url":"https://www.trmlabs.com/resources/blog/ten-fraudsters-from-four-financial-services-firms-charged-in-different-cryptocurrency-market-manipulation-schemes-out-of-northern-district-of-california"},{"credibility":2,"name":"CoinDesk: DOJ Sting Exposes Crypto Wash Trading Continues to Be Far More Common Than Expected","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.coindesk.com/business/2026/04/02/doj-sting-exposes-crypto-wash-trading-continues-to-be-far-more-common-than-expected"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Bitcoin.com News: FBI Sting Operation Exposes Crypto Price Rigging Network","type":"news_article","url":"https://news.bitcoin.com/fbi-sting-operation-exposes-crypto-price-rigging-network-as-10-foreign-nationals-charged-over-1m-seized/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Decrypt: DOJ Charges 10 Foreign Nationals Over Crypto Wash Trading Scheme","type":"news_article","url":"https://decrypt.co/362999/doj-charges-10-foreign-nationals-over-crypto-wash-trading-scheme"}]},{"content":"Three defendants were arrested in Singapore on October 2, 2025, at the request of the United States, and subsequently extradited to the Northern District of California: Gleb Gora (Vortex CEO), Manu Singh (Contrarian CEO), and Vasu Sharma (Contrarian Business Development Associate). The DOJ's use of FBI-created tokens as undercover instruments represents a departure from post-hoc investigations and establishes a proactive template for future actions. Legal analysts have noted that the charges signal the crypto market's transition from a loosely policed frontier toward institutional-grade regulatory scrutiny. The cases against Vortex, Antier, and Contrarian follow the October 2024 charges against 18 individuals and entities in the initial wave of the same undercover operation. Experts quoted in coverage of the enforcement action estimate that wash trading remains pervasive in lower-cap token markets on unregulated exchanges, with the practice described as a structural incentive driven by exchange listing volume requirements. No regulatory actions by the SEC or CFTC have been separately reported against Vortex, Antier, or Contrarian as of the investigation date; the charges are prosecuted as wire fraud under Title 18 rather than as securities violations, which reflects a deliberate prosecutorial choice that does not depend on a finding that the tokens are securities.","heading":"Broader Industry Context and
