Verify a decision

Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.

How verification works

  1. We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction.
  2. We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
  3. You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>

Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

All three were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1349) and wire fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1343). The DOJ alleges that Vortex used automated bots to execute these self-trades, in some instances completing a matching buy and sell within the same second. The scheme allegedly followed a pump-and-dump structure: fabricated volume caused cryptocurrency tokens to rise in price, attracting genuine retail investors who believed the activity reflected real market interest. Once trading reached target price levels, the defendants allegedly planned to liquidate their own holdings at those inflated valuations, leaving ordinary investors holding devalued tokens. The alleged conduct is described by prosecutors as part of a broader market-manipulation-as-a-service model, under which token issuers or projects hired firms like Vortex to manufacture the appearance of trading activity.","heading":"Alleged Wash-Trading Scheme","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":1,"name":"DOJ Press Release: Ten Foreign Nationals Charged In An International Operation Targeting Cryptocurrency Market Manipulation","type":"regulatory","url":"https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndca/pr/ten-foreign-nationals-charged-international-operation-targeting-cryptocurrency-market"},{"credibility":2,"name":"TRM Labs: Ten Fraudsters from Four Financial Services Firms Charged in Different Cryptocurrency Market Manipulation Schemes","type":"research","url":"https://www.trmlabs.com/resources/blog/ten-fraudsters-from-four-financial-services-firms-charged-in-different-cryptocurrency-market-manipulation-schemes-out-of-northern-district-of-california"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Crypto Times: U.S. Charges 10 Crypto Executives in International Wash Trading Sting","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptotimes.io/2026/04/01/u-s-charges-10-crypto-executives-in-international-wash-trading-sting/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"CCN: DOJ Charges 10 in Massive Crypto Wash Trading Scheme","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.ccn.com/news/crypto/doj-indicts-10-crypto-wash-trading-bots-market-manipulation/"}]},{"content":"Gleb Gora, a 24-year-old Russian national, served as Chief Executive Officer of Vortex.
