Verify a decision

Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.

How verification works

  1. We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction.
  2. We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
  3. You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>

Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

Developed by Digital Asset Holdings, it uses the company's proprietary Daml smart contract language to enable atomic, privacy-preserving transactions across a federated 'network of networks' architecture. Each participating institution maintains its own ledger while connecting through a shared synchronization layer called the Global Synchronizer. The Canton Coin (CC) is the native utility token, used to pay network transaction fees and to reward infrastructure operators. As of May 2026, CC trades at approximately $0.153 USD with a circulating supply of 38.51 billion tokens and a market capitalization of approximately $5.9 billion, ranking it among the top 20 cryptocurrencies globally. The token launched its Token Generation Event (TGE) on October 31, 2025. The primary concerns include: (1) Super Validator access is not permissionless — new Super Validators must be approved by a supermajority vote of existing Super Validators, creating a gatekeeping mechanism absent in networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum; (2) the network allows removal or redaction of historical data to comply with EU privacy regulations such as GDPR's right to be forgotten, departing from the immutability standard widely considered a foundational property of blockchain technology; and (3) the Bankless podcast episode titled 'Is Canton Even a Real Blockchain?' surfaced debate over whether the network's design more closely resembles a permissioned distributed database with a native token. CEO Yuval Rooz has publicly defended these design choices, arguing that 'the world is not permissionless' and that compromises were necessary to enable regulated financial institutions to adopt the technology at scale.
