Verify a decision
Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.
How verification works
- We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (
payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction. - We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
- You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is
AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

The House of Representatives passed the bill 294–134 on July 17, 2025, with 78 Democrats joining every voting Republican, signaling broad initial bipartisan support. The bill would divide regulatory jurisdiction between the SEC and CFTC, assigning the CFTC majority oversight of more decentralized digital commodities and secondary trading, while reserving SEC jurisdiction for initial offerings of more centralized digital assets. Centralized crypto exchanges would be required to register with the CFTC under defined capital, custody, and conduct requirements. The Senate Banking Committee approved a revised version 15–9 on May 14, 2026. All present Democrats voted against cloture. Four Republicans also voted no: Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), Sen. Josh Hawley (Missouri), Sen. Jerry Moran (Kansas), and Sen. Thom Tillis (North Carolina). Tillis's dissent was procedural in nature — he filed a motion to reconsider, preserving a technical avenue for a future vote, and stated publicly that the failure was 'not the end for the Clarity Act.' Collins, Hawley, and Moran voted against the bill on substantive grounds. Because the vote was only on cloture — the motion to begin floor debate — the bill never reached an up-or-down passage vote. President Trump disclosed more than $1.4 billion in crypto income for 2025, and Democrats demanded enforceable restrictions on the president and senior officials profiting from crypto while setting its rules. The White House agreed in September 2026 to revised ethics language that would permanently bar the president, vice president, members of Congress, federal judges, and their spouses from creating or sponsoring digital assets in exchange for payment, and would require officials with equity above $15,000 in predominantly crypto-revenue companies to divest or place holdings in a blind trust. Democrats rejected the revised text as leaving loopholes open through intermediaries, licensing deals, and family-affiliated entities. Among Republican dissenters, Hawley and Moran cited separate concerns; community banks had also opposed provisions allowing stablecoins to pay interest to customers, arguing it created unfair competitive pressure without equivalent regulation. Former federal prosecutor Ron Mariotti and other analysts concurred that the bill is effectively dead for this Congress, with any re-introduction likely requiring a new legislative session in 2027. SEC Chair Paul Atkins stated that the agency would 'move decisively to deliver certainty with or without legislation,' citing the SEC's existing statutory authority. The CFTC, chaired by Michael Selig, submitted its crypto asset rulemaking — registered as RIN 3038-AF80 and titled Regulation of Crypto Asset Transactions and Crypto Asset Markets — to the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs on September 17, 2026. The filing is listed at the prerule stage; its contents remain confidential during OIRA review. Selig's published framework would create a new designated contract market category permitting unregistered crypto exchanges to offer leveraged trading under CFTC oversight without new legislation, though this cannot grant the CFTC full spot-market authority, which requires an act of Congress.
