Verify a decision
Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.
How verification works
- We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (
payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction. - We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
- You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is
AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

Its base layer is a Bitcoin-derived proof-of-work chain supporting UTXO transactions and merged mining with the Bitcoin network, allowing Bitcoin miners to simultaneously mine SYS without additional energy expenditure. Its second layer, the Network-Enhanced Virtual Machine (NEVM), is an Ethereum-compatible environment for smart contracts and decentralized applications. A cross-chain bridge connects the UTXO and NEVM layers, enabling token transfers between the two chains by verifying cryptographic proofs. The native SYS token is used for transaction fees and incentives. In early 2026, development was focused on a zero-knowledge EVM extension called Edgechain, which neared public testnet launch in February 2026, and an updated wallet application, Pali Wallet V4. As of mid-2026, the cross-chain bridge remains offline following the June 2026 exploit, pending completion of a security audit.","heading":"Protocol Overview","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":3,"name":"What is Syscoin — Bitnovo Blog","type":"other","url":"https://www.bitnovo.com/blog/en/what-is-syscoin-sys"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin bridge exploit — Cryptopolitan","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptopolitan.com/syscoin-bridge-paused-exploit-project/"}]},{"content":"On June 7, 2026, an attacker exploited a proof-parsing vulnerability in Syscoin's cross-chain bridge to mint approximately 5 billion unauthorized SYS tokens on the UTXO chain without performing a corresponding burn transaction on the NEVM side. The bridge's zero-sum design assumes every UTXO-side mint is backed by an equivalent NEVM-side burn; the attacker bypassed this guarantee entirely.\n\nThe technical mechanism involved a malformed UTXO burn transaction containing two asset commitments targeting the same output. Syscoin Core and the NEVM bridge relay interpreted this ambiguous payload differently: Core treated the transaction as involving a custom token, while the relay read it as native SYS and instructed the vault contract to release approximately 5 billion tokens. No private keys were compromised; the exploit was a pure logic failure in the relay's SPV proof-parsing code. The attacker's initial address was identified as sys1qgaelv690g7wwp2xchfdh0enf5uewzq5sm9wvcw, with proceeds subsequently split approximately 4 billion SYS to one wallet and 1 billion SYS to a second.\n\nThe unauthorized tokens represented a supply inflation of roughly 568% relative to the pre-attack circulating supply of approximately 891 million SYS. At the time of the exploit, the tokens were valued at approximately $8.56 million based on a SYS closing price of roughly $0.00171. SYS experienced a price decline of approximately 40% from $0.0022 in the days following public disclosure.\n\nSyscoin's response included: immediately pausing bridge operations, publishing the affected wallet addresses and transaction hashes, contacting exchanges and ecosystem partners to blacklist or freeze tainted deposits, and deploying a fix to the identified validation path. The team made on-chain contact with the attacker, warning of exchange escalation and legal action, and offered a whitehat bounty discussion. The attacker returned all 5 billion SYS tokens to a designated recovery address via two on-chain transactions on June 10–11, 2026. The recovered tokens were subsequently destroyed via an OP_RETURN burn transaction, restoring the circulating supply to pre-exploit levels.\n\nSecurity firm Rekt News noted that no public third-party audit record exists for the bridge relay path itself, despite other Syscoin ecosystem components having been audited. This mirrors proof-handling failures at Nomad Bridge (2022), BNB Bridge (2022), and Hyperbridge (April 2026). Native SYS trading at exchanges resumed on approximately June 10, 2026; a technical breakdown of the vulnerability was released on June 15, 2026; and a public announcement of recovery and token burn was made on June 18, 2026. The bridge remained offline as of late June 2026 pending final security audit.","heading":"June 2026 Bridge Exploit","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Explained: The Syscoin Bridge Hack (June 2026) — Halborn","type":"research","url":"https://www.halborn.com/blog/post/explained-the-syscoin-bridge-hack-june-2026"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin Halts Bridge After Exploit Mints 5 Billion SYS Tokens — CryptoTimes","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptotimes.io/2026/06/08/syscoin-halts-bridge-after-exploit-mints-5-billion-sys-tokens/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin bridge remains paused as 5B token mint exploit threatens project's future — Cryptopolitan","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptopolitan.com/syscoin-bridge-paused-exploit-project/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin recovers and burns 5 billion hack tokens — Cryptopolitan","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptopolitan.com/syscoin-recovers-and-burns-5-billion-hack-tokens/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin — Rekt News","type":"research","url":"https://rekt.news/syscoin-rekt"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin recovers after hack and burns 5 billion stolen tokens — CoinSpot","type":"news_article","url":"https://coinspot.io/en/cryptocurrencies/syscoin-recovers-after-hack-and-burns-5-billion-stolen-tokens/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin — How a validation flaw enabled 5 billion unauthorized SYS — AMBCrypto","type":"news_article","url":"https://ambcrypto.com/syscoin-how-a-validation-flaw-enabled-5-billion-unauthorized-sys/"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Syscoin bridge exploit: ~5B SYS minted in proof validation attack — PricePredictions","type":"news_article","url":"https://pricepredictions.com/news/syscoin-bridge-exploit-5-billion-sys-tokens-minted-proof-validation-flaw-br7jyfk9"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin Bridge Paused After 5 Billion Unauthorized SYS Tokens Minted — KuCoin","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.kucoin.com/news/flash/syscoin-bridge-paused-after-5-billion-unauthorized-sys-tokens-minted"}]},{"content":"In July 2024, a significant internal dispute within the Syscoin Foundation became public, with multiple board members and former employees leveling allegations of financial mismanagement, unauthorized token issuance, and potential fraud against senior leadership.\n\nFoundation board member and treasurer Willy Ko alleged that CEO Jagdeep Sidhu held sole control over the foundation's treasury wallet, which at one point contained over $100 million in assets, without multi-signature protections. Ko alleged that foundation funds were used to support SYS Labs — a for-profit company operated by Sidhu, Christopher O'Shea, and Michiel Naring — rather than for foundation purposes. Former business development manager Matthew Mappin publicly cited community concerns about the lack of financial transparency and the obscure relationship between the foundation and SYS Labs. Board member Bradley Stephenson stated that SYS Labs had delivered almost no applications despite its mandate to drive Syscoin adoption.\n\nDirectors Jagdeep Sidhu, Willy Ko, Christopher O'Shea, Michiel Naring, and Bradley Stephenson were all named in allegations related to the issuance of 100 million new SYS tokens alleged to have been unauthorized. The issuance was reportedly disguised as a community vote, with allegations that the vote was fabricated or conducted secretly, excluding most community members. It was further alleged that the Rollux project was transferred from the foundation to SYS Labs to increase the directors' personal stakes, and that the foundation's directors had not filed corporate tax returns.\n\nA criminal complaint was lodged with the Functional Public Prosecutor's Office in the Netherlands on July 26, 2024. The District Court of East Brabant scheduled a joint hearing concerning proposed dismissal of the current directors and appointment of a court-supervised director to investigate alleged fraud, embezzlement, document forgery, money laundering, and participation in a criminal organization. At a September 26, 2024 court hearing, directors Sidhu, O'Shea, and Naring allegedly attempted to withhold financial statements and accounting records for SYS Labs; the judge ordered the relevant statements and accounting to be produced. Following a Decrypt investigation, Jagdeep Sidhu indicated his intent to resign as CEO of SYS Labs. CFO Chris O'Shea disputed the transparency allegations.\n\nAll allegations above are at the investigation and civil/criminal complaint stage. No criminal convictions or final court judgments against any named individual have been confirmed in available public sources as of mid-2026.","heading":"2024 Governance Allegations and Dutch Criminal Investigation","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin execs accused of unauthorized creation of 100 million new SYS tokens — Cryptopolitan","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.cryptopolitan.com/syscoin-execs-100-million-tokens-fraud/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"SYS Labs CEO to Resign Amid Allegations of Mismanagement — Decrypt","type":"news_article","url":"https://decrypt.co/241565/sys-labs-ceo-to-resign-amid-allegations-of-mismanagement"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Dutch Court Grants Motion for Hearing to Dismiss Syscoin Foundation Directors after Criminal Complaint Filed — TechBullion","type":"news_article","url":"https://techbullion.com/dutch-court-grants-motion-for-hearing-to-dismiss-syscoin-foundation-directors-after-criminal-complaint-filed/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Judge Orders Syscoin Crypto Assets Returned and Rollux SYS Labs Accounting Produced — TechBullion","type":"news_article","url":"https://techbullion.com/judge-orders-syscoin-crypto-assets-returned-and-rollux-sys-labs-accounting-produced/"},{"credibility":3,"name":"Allegations Against Syscoin Foundation and SYS Labs — dapp.expert","type":"news_article","url":"https://dapp.expert/news/en_allegations-against-syscoin-foundation-and-sys-labs"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Syscoin Foundation Takes Legal Action Over Alleged Financial Misconduct — Binance News","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.binance.com/en/square/post/2024-09-10-syscoin-foundation-takes-legal-action-over-alleged-financial-misconduct-13333839725578"}]},{"content":"On June 9, 2018, an attacker breached Syscoin's official GitHub account and replaced the legitimate Windows installer for Syscoin 3.0.4.1 with a malicious, unsigned binary containing the trojan Trojan:Win32/Feury.B!cl.
