Verify a decision

Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.

How verification works

  1. We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction.
  2. We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
  3. You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>

Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

The main suspect, surnamed Park, allegedly operated a social media account under the alias 'Eth Father' while simultaneously managing the CATFI project's official promotional channels — falsely presenting himself as an independent third-party influencer with no project affiliation. Alleged tactics documented by prosecutors included: artificial inflation of social media follower counts; publication of false positive announcements designed to generate FOMO among retail investors; distribution of token holdings across multiple wallets to conceal the degree of insider supply control; and circular (wash) trading across those wallets to simulate organic market demand. According to reporting by BanklessTimes and BeInCrypto, the group deployed an initial capital of approximately 10 million Korean won (~$6,700) and extracted approximately 400 million won (~$260,000) in alleged illegal proceeds before withdrawing liquidity. Two primary suspects were arrested and formally indicted, including Park, the alleged ringleader who operated as 'Eth Father.' A third suspect was indicted without detention. The remaining two individuals faced separate charges for allegedly assisting Park in evading investigators for approximately three months following the initial collapse. The VAUPA took effect on July 19, 2024, and was previously applied in January 2025 in a separate case involving the centralized exchange Bithumb and alleged manipulation of the ACE token — making the CATFI prosecution reportedly only the second VAUPA case overall, and the first extending to decentralized infrastructure. Prior to the VAUPA, decentralized exchanges were described by prosecutors as existing in a 'regulatory blind spot.' Investigators demonstrated that the off-ramp from pseudonymous on-chain activity to fiat currency exchanges provided identifiable choke points, and that circular trading patterns across multiple wallets could be reconstructed and attributed to specific individuals through chain analysis. Investigators traced wallet activity to identify circular trading patterns — multiple wallets controlled by the same operators conducting trades among themselves — and linked those wallet addresses to the suspects' social media accounts and real-world identities. The conversion of token proceeds to fiat currency through centralized exchanges, which operate under know-your-customer (KYC) requirements, provided the primary identification vector for suspects who had previously operated pseudonymously on the DEX. This methodology — combining on-chain forensics with fiat off-ramp records — is consistent with techniques used in other international cryptocurrency fraud prosecutions and is reported to have been sufficient to establish the evidentiary chain linking Park's 'Eth Father' online persona to the CATFI project's wallet infrastructure.","heading":"Investigation Methodology","severity":"medium","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"South Korea Launches First-Ever Criminal Case Over DeFi DEX Rug Pull — BanklessTimes","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.banklesstimes.com/articles/2026/05/27/south-korea-launches-first-ever-criminal-case-over-defi-dex-rug-pull/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"South Korea Makes First DEX Rug Pull Arrest in Catfi Case — Yahoo Finance / original reporting","type":"news_article","url":"https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/south-korea-makes-first-dex-122540420.html"}]},{"content":"CATFI was launched on Pump.fun, a permissionless Solana-based token launchpad that allows any user to create and deploy a token with minimal friction.
