Verify a decision
Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.
How verification works
- We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (
payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction. - We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
- You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is
AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

The token's on-chain metadata, visible to recipients through blockchain explorers such as Tronscan, displayed a message claiming the recipient's wallet was under investigation for money laundering and instructing the holder to complete an 'anti-money laundering verification' online or face a 'total block' on their assets. A linked phishing website reportedly reinforced the threat, claiming that 'current sanctions' could only be avoided by immediately submitting personal and identifying information through an online form. The scheme is a variant of airdrop-based phishing (sometimes called 'address poisoning' or 'dusting' when used for scams), in which unsolicited tokens are used as a delivery vehicle for threatening or deceptive messages rather than having any legitimate monetary value.","heading":"Overview of the Scam","severity":"critical","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"FBI warns of fake tokens impersonating agency on the Tron network - The Block","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.theblock.co/post/394441/fbi-warns-fake-tokens-impersonating-agency-tron-network"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Fake FBI Crypto Tokens Are Being Used to Threaten Tron Users, Authorities Warn - Decrypt","type":"news_article","url":"https://decrypt.co/361819/fake-fbi-crypto-tokens-used-threaten-tron-users-authorities-warn"},{"credibility":2,"name":"FBI warns of phishing scam on the Tron blockchain - Cointelegraph","type":"news_article","url":"https://cointelegraph.com/news/fbi-warns-phishing-scam-tron-blockchain"}]},{"content":"The FBI's New York Field Office posted a public warning on the social media platform X stating it had become aware of tokens falsely purporting to come from the agency, and encouraged users of the TRON network to 'exercise caution if they encounter a token purported to be from the FBI.' The agency explicitly instructed the public to 'not provide any identifying information to any website associated with such token,' confirming that federal law enforcement does not contact individuals by sending tokens to their wallets and does not conduct 'verification' through on-chain messages. The FBI advised that anyone who had already submitted personal information to a site linked to the fake token should file a report with the agency's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). It is unclear from public reporting how many, if any, wallet holders responded to the phishing prompt by visiting the linked site or submitting personal information, and no outlet has published a confirmed victim count or financial loss figure tied specifically to this campaign. This figure originates from a single outlet's review of on-chain data rather than an official FBI or Tronscan statement, so it should be treated as a secondary, not independently verified, data point.","heading":"Scale of Distribution","severity":"medium","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Fake FBI Crypto Tokens Are Being Used to Threaten Tron Users, Authorities Warn - Decrypt","type":"news_article","url":"https://decrypt.co/361819/fake-fbi-crypto-tokens-used-threaten-tron-users-authorities-warn"}]},{"content":"Decrypt's coverage noted that TRON's existing reputation as a network associated with illicit finance flows (stemming from prior reporting on its use in stablecoin-based money laundering) may make users more susceptible to panicking at a message claiming law-enforcement scrutiny, since such claims could appear superficially plausible to TRON users already aware of the network's association with illicit activity in media coverage. That token was later disabled for trading, and authorities reportedly used the operation to charge individuals involved in manipulating its trading volume. Unlike the 2026 impersonation scam, NexFundAI was not sent unsolicited to individual victims' wallets with threats of asset freezes; it was deployed as part of a controlled sting operation disclosed afterward by the Department of Justice.
