Verify a decision

Every moderation decision on AVOID.NET is anchored to the Solana blockchain. You don't have to trust us — you can verify cryptographically that we committed to a verdict at a specific moment and have not rewritten it.

How verification works

  1. We commit. When a moderator accepts/rejects a submission, we serialize the decision into deterministic UTF-8 bytes (payload_canonical_string), hash it with SHA-256, encode the digest as base58, and write it to Solana inside an SPL Memo v2 transaction.
  2. We store the bytes. The exact bytes we hashed are stored alongside the decision in our database. Anyone can read them and recompute the hash in any language.
  3. You compare three values. Database hash, your independently-recomputed hash, and the hash inside the on-chain memo. If all three match, the decision is authentic and timestamped.
The on-chain memo format is AVOID.NET|v1|h:<b58-sha256>|d:<id>|t:<iso>

Find a signature on any investigation page's decision log, or run python -m src.verify_decision --signature <sig> for a CLI check.

The platform launched publicly on November 23, 2024, emerging from a hackathon prototype conceived November 1, 2024. It positions itself as a 'no-code' interface allowing users to deploy autonomous AI agents that translate natural language commands into on-chain transactions — including token swaps, NFT minting, wallet monitoring, and automated trading strategies. The platform integrates with major Solana protocols including Jupiter (aggregated swaps), Metaplex (NFTs), Raydium (AMM liquidity), Marinade Finance (liquid staking), and pump.fun (memecoin launchpad). As of launch, Griffain claimed to have processed over one million automated transactions. The platform uses an invite-only or access-pass model for onboarding, with early access passes distributed at 1 SOL each in November 2024.","heading":"Project Overview","severity":"low","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Griffain on Solana: Project Review, Programs, Token, Metrics | Solana Compass","type":"research","url":"https://solanacompass.com/projects/griffain"},{"credibility":2,"name":"KuCoin Research: Griffain (GRIFFAIN)","type":"research","url":"https://www.kucoin.com/research/project-reports/griffain-griffain"},{"credibility":2,"name":"What is Griffain (GRIFFAIN) — Bybit Learn","type":"news_article","url":"https://learn.bybit.com/en/ai/what-is-griffain-ai-agent"}]},{"content":"The primary publicly named co-founder is Tony Plasencia (also known as Efrén Plasencia), confirmed across multiple sources including IQ.wiki, Crunchbase, and an X post from @blocknewsdotcom tagging him as Griffain's founder at handle @tonyplasencia3. Plasencia holds a B.A. in Political Philosophy and Economy from San Francisco State University. His prior ventures include Underdog Protocol (co-founded, scaled to $1M ARR on Solana), Diffusion.me (a web3 content curation platform), and growth roles at Uber and Ritual.co. He has prior experience in business development and blockchain infrastructure on Solana. The broader Griffain team composition is not comprehensively disclosed. Solana Compass describes the team as including 'experienced developers from major tech companies and blockchain projects' who maintain 'active GitHub commits,' but does not name individuals beyond Plasencia. This partial anonymity of the broader engineering team is a moderate risk signal, though the named co-founder has a verifiable public track record. No controversies or legal actions are documented against Plasencia or other team members.","heading":"Team Transparency","severity":"medium","sources":[{"credibility":2,"name":"Tony Plasencia — IQ.wiki","type":"research","url":"https://iq.wiki/wiki/tony-plasencia"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Tony Plasencia — Crunchbase","type":"other","url":"https://www.crunchbase.com/person/tony-plasencia-50f1"},{"credibility":3,"name":"BlockNews on X: Griffain founder @tonyplasencia3 sneak peek","type":"social_media","url":"https://x.com/blocknewsdotcom/status/1874953597781172275"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Griffain on Solana: Project Review, Programs, Token, Metrics | Solana Compass","type":"research","url":"https://solanacompass.com/projects/griffain"}]},{"content":"Griffain's wallet and permissions model presents meaningful custodial risk that users should understand before depositing funds. Upon platform login, users receive an automatically generated Solana wallet managed through Privy, a third-party embedded wallet infrastructure provider. By default, agents cannot execute transactions; users must explicitly unlock their wallet and grant Griffain permission to 'sign and send transactions' on their behalf. This permission can be revoked at any time by re-locking the wallet. The platform states it relies on Privy to manage wallets 'without sharing private keys with Griffain,' and users may export their private key for use in external wallets. However, the Agent Sniper feature — which automatically buys and sells tokens on pump.fun continuously based on user-defined parameters — executes live on-chain transactions without per-transaction confirmation and warns explicitly: 'Griffain is not responsible for losses incurred through using Sniper.' The documentation also notes that sessions are lost on page refresh, meaning the agent's session state is ephemeral, introducing operational risk. The smart contract audit documentation vaguely references 'security audits by leading firms' but does not publicly identify the auditor(s) or link to audit reports, which is a noted gap. The Privy integration introduces third-party dependency risk: if Privy experienced a compromise or service outage, user wallets could be affected.","heading":"AI Agent Custody and Permissions Risk","severity":"high","sources":[{"credibility":1,"name":"Griffain Wallet Documentation","type":"official","url":"https://griffain.com/docs/wallets"},{"credibility":1,"name":"Griffain Agent Sniper Documentation","type":"official","url":"https://griffain.com/docs/sniper"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Griffain on Solana: Project Review, Programs, Token, Metrics | Solana Compass","type":"research","url":"https://solanacompass.com/projects/griffain"},{"credibility":2,"name":"How to Build a Secure AI Agent on Solana — Helius","type":"research","url":"https://www.helius.dev/blog/how-to-build-a-secure-ai-agent-on-solana"}]},{"content":"Griffain's Agent Sniper and Agent Flipper are specialized agents that automatically buy and sell newly launched tokens on pump.fun, the Solana memecoin launchpad. Agent Sniper monitors pump.fun in real time, evaluates new token launches against user-configured market cap thresholds, and executes purchases and preset sell orders without per-transaction user confirmation. The platform's own documentation includes the disclosure: 'Buying and selling new tokens on pump.fun involves significant risk.' Most pump.fun tokens have extremely short lifespans, with the majority going to near-zero value within minutes of launch. The automation of this activity at scale amplifies user exposure to rug-pull and liquidity-drain events, as the agent executes without human review of individual tokens. These agents are opt-in, and the platform provides configuration controls including stop-loss percentages and timeout parameters. However, the combination of autonomous execution, memecoin market dynamics, and the explicit disclaimer disclaiming Griffain's liability for Sniper-related losses constitutes a high-severity risk for retail users who may not fully understand the underlying mechanics.","heading":"Autonomous Trading and Memecoin Exposure","severity":"high","sources":[{"credibility":1,"name":"Griffain Agent Sniper Documentation","type":"official","url":"https://griffain.com/docs/sniper"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Automating the Pump.fun Hunt: AI Memecoin Sniper — MoonPay Help Center","type":"news_article","url":"https://support.moonpay.com/en/articles/629129-automating-the-pump-fun-hunt-a-guide-to-the-ai-memecoin-sniper"},{"credibility":2,"name":"Solana News Update: AI Versus Bots on Pump.fun — Bitget News","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.bitget.com/news/detail/12560605060385"}]},{"content":"The GRIFFAIN token launched on or around November 2, 2024, with a fixed total supply of approximately 999.88 million tokens. Multiple sources cite a token distribution of 40% community rewards, 30% development fund, 20% team (vested), and 10% strategic partners. However, the specific vesting schedule and cliff periods for team and development fund allocations have not been disclosed in any publicly accessible document identified during this investigation; TokenInsight and other trackers report no recorded token unlock events with specific timelines. The GRIFFAIN token is used for governance participation, agent activation, payment for platform energy (compute credits), access to premium features, and staking (approximately 8% APY cited in various sources). Several sources indicate the token was launched through a 'fair launch' mechanism with no private sale or pre-mine; however, this claim could not be verified against an independent on-chain audit. The token was part of the broader 'DeFAI' (Decentralized Finance x Artificial Intelligence) narrative that drove significant price appreciation across AI-agent tokens on Solana in late 2024 and early 2025. Following the peak, the token declined sharply; the worst annual performance was recorded in 2025, when the price declined approximately 94.95% year-over-year. By February 24, 2026, the token reached an all-time low of approximately $0.0073. As of early June 2026, the token was trading around $0.010–$0.017 with a market cap near $10–17 million, representing an approximately 97–98% drawdown from peak. Average 24-hour trading volume had declined from the $40M+ reported at peak to approximately $3.6 million. The decline is consistent with broader market contraction in the AI-agent sector and does not in itself indicate fraud; however, investors who purchased near the all-time high incurred severe losses.","heading":"Market Performance and Price Decline","severity":"high","sources":[{"credibility":1,"name":"GRIFFAIN — CoinGecko","type":"on_chain","url":"https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/griffain"},{"credibility":1,"name":"GRIFFAIN Price — CoinMarketCap","type":"on_chain","url":"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/griffain/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"GRIFFAIN Price — CoinCodex","type":"research","url":"https://coincodex.com/crypto/griffain/"},{"credibility":2,"name":"AI Agents Market Cap Plummeted 67% — AiCoin","type":"news_article","url":"https://www.aicoin.com/en/article/442077"}]},{"content":"Griffain's platform documentation and third-party summaries indicate that smart contracts underwent security audits, but no auditor name, report URL, or date has been publicly identified in any source reviewed during this investigation. Solana Compass specifically notes: 'specific auditors have not been publicly disclosed.' The platform implements transaction limits and protocol restrictions at the agent level. The use of Privy for wallet management is designed to prevent private key exposure to Griffain itself, which is a recognized best practice. However, the absence of a publicly verifiable audit report from a named, reputable auditor (such as OtterSec, Neodyme, or Trail of Bits — common Solana auditors) is a transparency gap.
