{"investigation":{"slug":"8ball","entity_name":"8ball","trust_score":35,"severity_base":null,"score_modifier":0,"confidence":0.15,"status":"published","content_type":"investigation","summary":"The name '8ball' (ticker 8BALL) matches several unrelated crypto tokens, including a Solana token listed as Billiards Hub, a Polygon token called 8Ball Finance, and an '8 Ball' listing on MEXC. No regulatory action, court filing or credible news report about any of them was found, but independent evidence about each is thin, so legitimacy could not be established.","sections":[{"content":"Searches for '8ball' returned multiple distinct projects that share the name or ticker. These include (1) Billiards Hub (8BALL) on Solana, listed on a Solflare price page; (2) 8Ball Finance (8BALL) on Polygon, tracked by Blockspot; and (3) an '8 Ball' (SN125) listing on MEXC. The requester did not specify a contract address, so it is not possible to determine which asset is meant. The page could not be matched to a single project, and these projects should not be assumed to be related. Page contents were not independently retrieved (the Blockspot page returned HTTP 403 and the Solflare fetch did not show the token), so these identifications rest on search-result snippets only.","heading":"Identification and ambiguity","sources":[{"url":"https://www.solflare.com/prices/billiards-hub/AXkqgwQLmNbRgP6MFiCpeGGQrdk6nKt4eS28VPb5L9VY","name":"Solflare - Billiards Hub 8BALL price page (search listing)","type":"other","credibility":3},{"url":"https://blockspot.io/coin/8ball-finance/","name":"Blockspot - 8Ball Finance (search listing)","type":"other","credibility":3},{"url":"https://www.mexc.com/price/8-ball/info","name":"MEXC - 8 Ball info page (search listing)","type":"other","credibility":3}],"severity":"medium"},{"content":"According to search-result summaries of aggregator pages, the Solana 8BALL token (Billiards Hub) trades at low volume and modest liquidity, and is flagged as unverified in Solana's token registry; its displayed market capitalisation appears inconsistent with its volume and is likely a data error. For 8Ball Finance on Polygon, aggregators reportedly show no price data and its website was described as offline since late October 2024. These figures are unconfirmed and may have changed. Low liquidity and an unverified status are risk indicators, not evidence of wrongdoing.","heading":"Market and liquidity indicators","sources":[{"url":"https://www.solflare.com/prices/billiards-hub/AXkqgwQLmNbRgP6MFiCpeGGQrdk6nKt4eS28VPb5L9VY","name":"Solflare - Billiards Hub 8BALL price page","type":"other","credibility":3},{"url":"https://blockspot.io/coin/8ball-finance/","name":"Blockspot - 8Ball Finance","type":"other","credibility":3}],"severity":"medium"},{"content":"No regulatory action, court filing, or reputable news report specifically about an '8ball' or '8BALL' token was found in the searches performed.
